About the Customer
Malta International Airport is the sole international gateway to the island, making it a central hub for tourists globally. Its strategic location has facilitated a steady influx of visitors, contributing significantly to Malta's tourism and international connectivity.
The Challenge
Before implementing an automated announcement system, Malta International Airport relied on manual announcements, leading to inconsistencies, delays, and inefficiencies in passenger communication. Announcements were handled independently at different information desks and control rooms, making coordination difficult. Airlines had to manually announce boarding calls, which resulted in inconsistent messaging and additional workload for staff.
As an international hub, CGN needed a multilingual solution to effectively communicate with passengers from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, without AODB integration, flight changes, cancellations, and gate updates had to be announced manually, increasing operational delays. To ensure high availability and reliability, Malta International Airport also required a redundant, locally hosted solution capable of functioning independently from cloud-based infrastructure.
Solution
At Malta International Airport, we have installed our PAXGuide Automatic Announcement System, enhancing the communication throughout the whole airport. The PAXpaging web application serves as the core audio management tool, enabling operators to efficiently broadcast announcements and manage scheduling across the facility, with integrated Text-2-Speech functionalities for dynamic and clear messaging.
Flight announcements are automated via a direct interface with the airport's AODB, ensuring that passengers receive timely and accurate flight information. The PAXgate web application, now operational at all gates, allows for automated boarding announcements tailored to each airline's specific needs.
Powered by a leading Text-2-Speech engine, the announcements offer clarity in various languages, serving the airport's diverse clientele. The PAXGuide software is seamlessly integrated with the installed ASL PA-system, forging a cohesive and effective public address system that aligns with the airport’s operational objectives and enhances the passenger experience.
